Day 5

In the summer of 1951, when Adeline was 16, she caught pneumonia. She was admitted to the hospital and after sometime, Joseph took her back home from the hospital and told Adeline that she would go to England and finish off her studies in boarding school for 2 years then go to the University College and London Hospital Medical College with third brother. She would then learn how to deliver babies. She was environmentally and emotionally changed because she was allowed to go from Hong Kong to England.
I think Adeline could have used this website for studying: http://www.webmd.com/
London Hospital Medical College
In September 1952, I sent Adeline a letter about life and I wrote out a story about Ye Xian, a Chinese version of the story, Cinderella. Adeline was psychologically changed because saw that I still immensely cared about her. She missed me a lot.
Long after Adeline graduated from college, Adeline married and she had 2 children. Joseph died in 1988 but Niang prevented all the kids from reading his will. Then, 2 years later, Niang died. That was when Adeline found out that she was left out from Niang’s will. Adeline was changed physically because by then she was about 50; she was environmentally changed because she went to California and practiced as a physician for 26 years; she was psychologically changed because she was left out of her parents will; and she was changed emotionally because she was not favored all over again and she saw that no matter how old she was Niang would keep loathing her.

Day 4

When Adeline started school in Tianjin, she went to a boarding school that she went to when she was in kindergarten. Tianjin was very dangerous at that time and after a few weeks, Adeline was the last student left. Her teachers kept wondering if anyone was going to pick Adeline up from the St. Joseph school. When Adeline’s aunt Reine (Niang’s older sister) went to get Adeline from the boarding school in Tianjin, Adeline’s teacher shouted ”Someone has come to pick you up!” as she searched for Adeline. Adeline was happy, confused and worried because she was finally leaving Tianjin, the dangerous place but she didn’t think anyone would actually pick her up. Aunt Reine mentioned that Niang had told her that Adeline was in St. Joseph boarding school and Niang and Niang’s family were moving from Shanghai to Hong Kong. Adeline, Adeline’s aunt Reine and her family were also going to Hong Kong. Adeline was again environmentally changed and psychologically changed because she was moving cities again and she was being taken by new loving people, to Hong Kong.

After the Schilling family left for Geneva after a week of staying in Joseph’s apartment, Adeline was taken to a school named Sacred Heart School and Orphanage. Adeline was going there as a boarder. She was prepared because she has been taken away from everyone a lot of times already. She was environmentally and mentally changed because she was going to a new school and she had to start making new friends again.
I personally think there shouldn’t be such thing as war or hatred. It simply causes more hatred, but luckily Adeline is not that type of person.

Adeline might have liked the website http://weheartbooks.com/ because she loved to read books during her stay in St. Joseph Boarding School.

Day 3

One day, the most treacherous day, was the day of pain, guilt and tears for Adeline. A few weeks after the kids got their ducklings; Joseph had called the whole family out into the garden. He wanted to see if Jackie’s trainer taught Jackie anything by putting innocent little PLT in the centre of the lawn and holding his dog, Jackie, by the leash 2 meters away. Jackie started pulling the leash so Joseph had no choice but to let go. Jackie pounced on PLT and luckily, Joseph rushed to pull Jackie away from PLT, but we all saw that PLT’s left leg was dangling. Adeline rushed over to PLT and ran upstairs. I am not quite sure what she did because she closed the door, but when I went upstairs, PLT was dead. This changed Adeline through all the aspects, emotionally, physically, psychologically, mentally and environmentally because PLT was Adeline’s whole world. This was a short-term change because Adeline got over PLT within a few years.
I remember in September 1948, when Adeline came home, she saw the cook packing away all her things. The cook told her “I am packing away your stuff, you are moving to Tianjin. Your Niang thinks it’s better if she separates you from your Aunt Baba.” Adeline was changed environmentally, because she was moving to a whole new place and she was changed mentally because she was being separated from me, her closest friend.

I felt quite sad because Adeline was leaving. I wanted to be with her forever, but obviously that didn’t happen.

Day 2

When Adeline started school in Shanghai, she was very nervous because she was wondering who she would meet, how the school would be like, would everyone be nice, will many people be her friend? That was the day that she met some of the nicest people in the world, compared to her siblings and Niang. After a few weeks of her new school, she became friends with a very nice, sporty and friendly girl named Wu Chun Mei. She felt changed through a short-term concept because she finally had a proper friend. She was changed both emotionally and psychologically. Only I knew about Adeline’s new friend because Adeline thought Niang would punish her for having a friend.

One day, the Huang family brought home a cardboard box with 7 little ducklings in it. All the 7 kids got to choose their duckling, but as usual, Adeline got to pick last. She got the scrawniest little duckling out of everyone’s. She named her duck PLT, which was a short form for Precious Little Treasure. Adeline was psychologically changed because that day, she got her best friend in the whole world. Yes it may have only been a duck to everyone, but to her, PLT was like the president of her world. She would do anything for PLT.
I feel happy for Adeline. Her getting a duckling will show her how to take care of a real living thing. She will learn how to treat a living thing properly, unlike her Niang.

Day 1

I will tell you about my dear Adeline. As her aunt, I always knew she would never give up.
Adeline’s siblings believed that Adeline was bad luck because 3 days after Adeline was born, Adeline’s mother, came down with a high fever. She died when Adeline was only 2 weeks old. Adeline was changed emotionally because all of Adeline’s generation gave her no respect.

The picture of me
I remember, in July 1943, a life-changing event took place; Adeline’s grandmother (my mother) had passed away because of a stroke. Adeline always adored my mother. I cried a lot but Adeline always came and comforted me. This was a huge emotional change because Adeline felt quite sad, and she was still young.
6 weeks after mother’s funeral, Adeline’s grandfather (my father) took Adeline’s big sister, big brother, second brother and Adeline out for a car ride. The car stopped in front of a railroad station. They were going to Shanghai. Joseph (Adeline’s father/my Brother) waited for them in the train. They were all going to escape to Shanghai, away from the Japanese, who were going to arrest Joseph. She felt a long-term environmental change happening around her because this was all very new for Adeline; she had to get used to her new surroundings. She had to start a new life, with all the people who mistreated her.
Adeline was very excited when my father, Adeline’s third brother, Adeline’s stepsister and I arrived in Shanghai.

I feel that Adeline doesn’t deserve to be unwanted. Though Adeline is becoming a stronger and more independent person.
